PRIDE is OUR PROTEST!

Jonathan calls for collective visibility, radical inclusion and the protection of queer rights at CSD Berlin 2025 under the motto "PRIDE is our protest". He recalls the AIDS crisis, calls for political responsibility and demands an end to fascism and discrimination - loudly, unequivocally and in solidarity.

Today we demand that HUMAN RIGHTS be taken seriously by our politicians!

Today we remember all those we have lost since the 1980s and as a result of the AIDS epidemic.

Today we remember Stonewall and what we have achieved and what is at stake.

Today we celebrate that we are many and that we are stronger through solidarity.

And that is why we are burying it:

  • The rainbow capitalism that was never our ally!
  • The stigma that wants to prevent us from being human and living the way we want!
  • And the outdated conventions that want to take away the freedoms we have fought for!

We say: Let's bury the Cis-tem!

Queer visibility in times like these, in which attempts are being made to make queer people and our concerns invisible, it is more important than ever for us to show with full power and presence that we are many and take up space.

Our communities are colourful, diverse - the fight for participation, inclusion and human rights is and always has been hard and tiring. Many right-wing voices turn our struggle around and describe it as radical. But the idea that we are all equal is not radical!

Anyone who is more afraid of rainbow flags than of 151 fascists in OUR Bundestag is apparently not aware of the seriousness of the situation!

How well-defended is our democracy if singing against Nazis is already a scandal? Why talk to Nazis at all? Not everything is a cause for discussion. We could discuss taxes - billionaires can pay more taxes - that would be an idea!

But we must stop debating human rights as if they were a matter of interpretation!

The dignity of ALL PEOPLE should be inviolable!

Those who cry freedom but do not demand it for ALL people only want to preserve their privileges!

We demand radical inclusion and legal protection for marginalised people!

Yes, freedom also means that we can decide to block something out, to ignore it, to look away - but we CANNOT SAY we didn't know! Denial does not change the truth.

FREEDOM for ALL! Human rights for ALL!

And if we were all against it in 50 years' time, it will perhaps be too late.

Is it already too late?

NEVER AGAIN MEANS NOW!

NEVER BE QUIET AGAIN MEANS ALWAYS BE LOUD!

Silence equals DEATH!

SILENCE = DEATH!

Love is love - absolutely. But Pride stands more than ever for "Attention, we are in danger!" The past has shown how strong we are in solidarity, how loud we can be. CSDs are demonstrations. THE FIRST PRIDE WAS A RIOT! And our fight has continued ever since!

The motivation for this fight stems from acute necessity. We will never again allow ourselves to become invisible, never again be silent! Never again is now! We present the Pink Triangle because we will never forget the endless suffering that this symbol from National Socialism embodies! The Pink Triangle reminds us that the queer emancipation struggle is not over!

Let's not be persuaded otherwise: Trans Rights are human rights! This is and must be our common struggle. And the attack on our Trans Siblings, friends, family, community is a targeted attack on the rights of all people. We must protect each other and be active allies.

We know whether trans* or HIV-positive, that access to health services, testing, counselling and support structures saves lives. If these are prevented, the loss of human life is accepted.

It must not be dangerous or life-threatening, trans, queeror not to be white.

The dignity of ALL PEOPLE is inviolable!

The fight against HIV/AIDS in Germany began in 1983 with the founding of the German AIDS service organisation by those affected and allies. At a time when HIV was almost a death sentence and those affected were subject to massive stigmatisation, AIDS service organisations offered concrete help, established information and fought for the rights of people living with HIV.

The alliance of the dirty children - gays, whores, junkies, foreigners (all self-designations from back then), those who are to be pushed out of society, who are to be made invisible - must be revived and loud! "Exclude no one, leave no one behind!" was the motto back then and still is today!

WE ARE THE DIRTY CHILDREN AND WE WILL NEVER BE REPRESSED AGAIN.

Access to medical care is a human right. A human right that is denied to too many people! Denied wilfully. We stand up for these people!

YES - we have come a long way since the AIDS epidemic of the 80s, today, in 2025. We have fought hard and lost TOO MANY of our loved ones along the way. And yet discrimination, ignorance and social exclusion persist. Many positive people experience rejection in everyday life, even in our communities. ALWAYS! That's why prevention is still important. Prevention remains human rights work. And this work is not possible without means, without resources, without allies in politics!

That is why our fight for participation and equal rights remains essential. DAH and its partner organisations continue to campaign for education, self-help and political participation - because health is inextricably linked to social justice.

Thank you for being here, thank you for your COURAGE!

Stay loud, stay colourful, channel your frustration and anger and look for connections, networks and like-minded people.

WE MUST NOT FORGET EACH OTHER! LET'S BE THERE FOR EACH OTHER!

This CSD stands for our right to freedom and a life that we are free to shape. So queer as we want.

This applies to ALL PEOPLE.

Everywhere! Always!

NO TO FASCISM!

FREEDOM FOR ALL!

Fuck the Patriarchy!

BLACK LIVES MATTER

Racism kills!

BLACK LIVES MATTER is no empty phrase - it is a cry for justice!

Lorenz, I think of you so often. It still hurts!
