Swab

A smear test is a medical examination in which cells or fluids are taken from a specific part of the body using a cotton swab or similar tool.

  • Common areas of application are
    • Genital area (e.g. for tests for sexually transmitted infections such as chlamydia, gonorrhoea or HPV)
    • Mouth or throat area (e.g. for a corona test or for STI diagnostics)
