Between love and truth - the inner coming out
Dennis came out late - not because he wasn't sure about his feelings, but because he was still with a woman at the time. He loved her, but deep down he knew that he fancied men. For a long time, he tried to suppress this part of himself. But it cost him strength, energy - and, in the long run, his zest for life.
Why coming out is liberating - no matter when
"Not coming out means constantly fighting against yourself," says Dennis. Only when he accepted himself was he able to be open about his identity. Looking back, he is convinced that coming out is an important step - not only for himself, but also for his relationships with others.
Dennis coming out shows:
Even though he was in a relationship with a woman, Dennis felt that he was suppressing something - his own truth. In this video, he talks openly about the long inner struggle, the courage to accept himself and why his coming out was a liberating experience.
