The term Hepatitis means Liver inflammation. It can be caused by various factors - most frequently by Virusesbut also through Alcohol, medication or other illnesses.
Viral hepatitis:
- There are several types: Hepatitis A, B, C, D and E.
- They differ in the type of transmission and the course of the disease.
- Hepatitis A and E: mostly via contaminated food or water
- Hepatitis B, C and D: via blood or sexual contact
- Some moulds run acute and heal completely (e.g. hepatitis A).
- Others can Chronic (especially hepatitis B and C) and can lead to severe Liver damage such as liver cirrhosis or liver cancer.
Symptoms:
- Tiredness, loss of appetite, nausea
- Yellowing of skin and eyes (Jaundice)
- Dark urine, light-coloured stool
