The Incidence is a term from the Medicine and epidemiology. He describes, how many new cases of the disease occur in a certain population group in a certain period of time.
Example:
- If 50 new HIV diagnoses are made in a city with a population of 100,000 within a year, the Annual incidence 50 per 100,000.
Difference to prevalence:
- Incidence = number of new Cases in one period
- Prevalence = Number of all existing Cases at a specific point in time
