Itching (medical: Pruritus) is an unpleasant skin sensation that triggers the urge to scratch.
Possible causes are
- Skin problems: Dry skin, eczema, allergies, insect bites
- Infections: z. e.g. fungal infections, scabies, chickenpox
- Irritations: due to sweat, heat, certain substances or cosmetics
- Internal diseases: sometimes also liver, kidney or metabolic diseases
Itching can locally limited (e.g. in a small area) or all over the body occur.
