Brief description

SCHMIT-Z e.V. is the queer centre in Trier and has been offering an open space for lesbian, gay and bisexual people for over 30 years, trans*, inter* and other queer people and their relatives. As an independent youth welfare organisation, the association is involved in the areas of counselling, education, culture and community work. SCHMIT-Z e.V. promotes the visibility and acceptance of queer lifestyles in the region with a wide range of programmes.

Offers & services


  • Consultancy:
    Confidential and free counselling on topics such as coming out, relationships, family, HIV/STI, sexualised violence and more.

  • Education:
    School education projects such as SCHLAU Trier to raise awareness of sexual and gender diversity.

  • Group offers:
    Diverse groups for different target groups, e.g. "Route 66" youth centre, "Prisma" 18+ group, Trans*/non-binary regulars' table, rainbow families, polyamory regulars' table and much more.

  • Cultural events:
    Organisation of events such as the Pink Carnival, the CSD Trier, theatre productions and film evenings.

  • Queergarten:
    A queer beer garden in the Palastgarten Trier, open from May to September, with regular events such as karaoke.

  • Letting:
    Possibility of renting rooms for events and meetings.
