How a late coming out opened up new paths
Coming out is a very personal step for every person - and it can happen at any age. Rolf tells us how he only came out when he was over 50.
"I was torn for a long time," he recalls. "I didn't really want to fall out of the norm. I always kept the lid on."

With a new friend at his side, Rolf finally spoke to his wife.
"I was already over 50 by then. After that, it was clear to everyone who knew me."
He didn't even have to actively say it himself - his grown-up daughters took it away from him. OutingOuting means that a person makes their sexual orientation or gender identity known publicly or in their personal environment. One un... Mehr quasi off.
While his children reacted calmly and sometimes even with humour, the marriage ended.
"My wife has left me"
Rolf says frankly. Today, however, the two have a good relationship again.
